BLK Cookery is a culinary company dedicated to creating intentional dining experiences that celebrate the African Diaspora and the richness of community. Founded by Jason Scott, BLK Cookery reflects a lifelong journey shaped by movement, tradition, and professional training.
Jason was born in Buffalo, New York, and his upbringing carried him across the country, from Kansas to Indiana, then to Meridian and Jackson, Mississippi, where his family roots run deep. After graduating high school, he attended Jackson State University, grounding his path in both culture and community before pursuing his professional culinary calling.
In 2022, Jason moved to Seattle to attend The Seattle Culinary Academy, earning a degree in Culinary Arts along with a ServSafe Management Certification. He graduated in March 2024 and relocated to Portland, Oregon later that year to launch the next chapter of his culinary vision.
BLK Cookery curates experiences like the BLK Brunch Club, a monthly celebration of Black food, culture, and connection, as well as intimate private dinners, bespoke celebrations, and small corporate events designed to bring people together around the table.

BLK Brunch Club
A monthly gathering where young Black professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs come together to connect, network, and celebrate Black food and culture. Each brunch features a curated menu and a vibrant atmosphere designed to inspire conversation and community.
Private Dinners & Celebrations
We design unforgettable dining experiences for groups of 2 to 20. Perfect for bachelorette parties, weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, engagement parties, anniversaries, birthdays, or romantic nights in, these events feature customized menus, elegant settings, and optional enhancements such as wine pairings, cocktails, and décor.
