A Taste of African Heritage

BLK Cookery offers A Taste of African Heritage, a nationally recognized cooking and nutrition program created by Oldways. As a certified facilitator, Jason Scott leads group-based classes that explore the rich food traditions of the African Diaspora through hands-on cooking and shared meals.

This six-lesson course is designed for organizations, community groups, and corporations interested in providing meaningful cultural and wellness programming. Each class introduces heritage ingredients and cooking techniques, blending history, culture, and practical skills that participants can carry into their everyday lives.

Start Cooking

“We must teach people to cook not because cooking is a chore, but so that we can reclaim our agency and our stories through the food we prepare.”
